Honorable Constance H. Williams

Senator Connie Williams (D-17th, Delaware and Montgomery) was first elected to the state Senate in 2001, after serving in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from 1997 to 2001. She is the Senate Democratic Caucus Administrator. Her committee assignments include Democratic Chair of Communications and Technology, Policy, Transportation, Finance, Aging & Youth and Local Government.

Senator Williams is co-chair of the Senate Life Sciences and Biotechnology Caucus and a member of the:

  • Governor's Advisory Committee on Minority and Women Business Opportunities
  • Arthritis and Osteoporosis Caucus
  • Joint House and Senate Autism Caucus
  • Senate Firefighters and Emergency Services Caucus
  • Senate Lupus Caucus
  • Children’s Environmental Health Caucus
She is also co-chair of the Pennsylvania New Democrat Coalition.

Senator Williams has a strong record of community involvement. In 2004, Gov. Ed Rendell appointed the Senator to serve as his representative on the Board of Directors of the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts.

She is a Fellow of the Philadelphia Academy of Physicians, a member of the board of trustees at The Episcopal Academy, Chair of the Board of Directors of Steppingstone Scholars Inc., and a member of the Trustees Council of Penn Women and the Forum of Executive Women.

She is a member of the boards of:

  • Philadelphia Museum of Art
  • Harcum College AIM Program Advisory
  • National Museum of American Jewish History
  • The Greater Valley Forge Transportation Management Association

Senator Williams has received several awards over the past few years, including:

  • Pennsylvania Federation of Democratic Women, Sen. Jeanette Reibman Memorial Award, 2007

  • Pennsylvania Recreation and Park Society Governmental Award, 2006

  • Ivy Young Willis Award, Cabrini College, 2005
  • Delaware Valley Healthcare Leadership Award, 2004
  • Montgomery County March of Dimes Women of Distinction, 2003

Senator Williams was the economic development and small business coordinator for Pennsylvania’s 13th Congressional District; a program officer for the Eisenhower Exchange Fellowships; and a consultant for the Pennsylvania Small Business Development Centers.

Senator Williams received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Barnard College and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. She resides in Haverford with her husband, who is a professor of medicine. The couple have two daughters and a son-in-law.
