Leslie Anne Miller, Esq.

Leslie Anne Miller, Esq.

Leslie Anne Miller, Esquire, is a consummate professional in the field of law who has been recognized locally and across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for her leadership in service to the community. Known as an advocate of programs that advance women, she is also a proponent for work that fosters diversity in both the legal profession and business community.

She is currently a solo practitioner engaged in alternate dispute resolution.

After acting as finance committee co-chair during Michael Nutter’s mayoral campaign as well as a key member of his transition team, she continues to serve Mayor Nutter as an advisor.

Ms. Miller was previously General Counsel for the Pennsylvania Office of General Counsel, the state’s largest legal entity. In this position, she led a staff of more than 450 attorneys in representing Governor Edward G. Rendell and 32 executive and independent agencies in litigation, transactions, regulatory, legislative and criminal justice matters. Prior to her appointment to the Governor’s Cabinet, Ms. Miller was partner and shareholder in the law firm of McKissock and Hoffman, P.C.

She was the first woman elected president of the 27,000 member Pennsylvania Bar Association (PBA) during 1998-1999 and also chaired the association’s first Commission on Women in the Profession in addition to chairing the House of Delegates and Young Lawyers Division.

An awareness that broad-based business and legal acumen can affect positive and lasting change for organizations takes her dedication to volunteerism beyond the pro bono publico of the legal profession. Ms. Miller is especially respected for her success with the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts where she took a leadership role in overseeing final preparations for the Center’s December 2001 opening and continues to serve as co-chair of the board of directors.

Various other cultural and non-profit organizations also benefit from her professional creativity and innovation: Mount Holyoke College (where she is current Board of Trustees Chair), Temple University’s Beasley School of Law, the Free Library of Philadelphia, the Fairmount Park Conservancy and the Philadelphia Foundation. Her long-standing involvement in corporate governance assures these entities a committed, dependable and thoughtful board member with a unique understanding of the fiduciary and ethical responsibilities inherent in these positions.

Myriad honors have marked the thirty-year legal career of Leslie Anne Miller. She received a Founder’s Award from Temple University and has been inducted into the Business Women’s Hall of Fame at the Fox School of Business. Friends of the Chamonix Mansion of Fairmount Park honored her and Drexel University College of Medicine presented her with the Woman One Award. She was one of five “Women Making History” for the Philadelphia Chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) and a “Woman of Distinction” according to the Philadelphia Business Journal. Mount Holyoke College presented her with the Alumnae Medal. Both the Philadelphia Bar Association and the Pennsylvania Bar Association have honored her, as have Dickinson School of Law and the Medical College of Pennsylvania. Former Governor Tom Ridge named her a Distinguished Daughter of Pennsylvania.

Ms. Miller received an A.B., cum laude, from Mount Holyoke College and Master’s Degree in Arts in Political Science from the Eagleton Institute of Politics at Rutgers University. Dickinson School of Law conferred her J.D. and she received an L.L.M., with honors from Temple University’s Beasley School of Law.

Leslie Anne Miller is married to investment advisor Richard B. Worley. They reside in Bryn Mawr, PA.
